My name is Ashley Johncola, and I am a journalist specializing in broadcast media who always strives to demonstrate passion, persistence and creativity in each of my endeavors. I attended New York University, where I was able to hone my broadcasting skills both in front and behind the camera. NYU Tonight gave me the opportunity to work every angle of news production and conduct interviews that not only featured NYU students, but also renowned talent such as actor/screenwriter Paul Rudd. My double major in political science intensified my passion for world news, and gave me the opportunity to explore the anatomy of several European countries while I studied abroad in Florence, Italy.
During college, I interned for Fox News Channel, the top ranking cable news network in the county, where I produced segments for their national morning show, Fox and Friends. It was here that I not only pitched stories alongside producers and editors in the nation’s number one market, but was also featured in an on-air interview and anchored a live sports report. Before this, an internship at MTV gave me the pre and post-production skills that are essential in any newsroom.
As a reporter at FOX Toledo, I spent two years working both in front of and behind the camera. I started as “The Face of FOX Toledo, appearing live on air, in commercials, and at community events. I then began anchoring morning news cut-ins and reporting on everything from local crime to human interest.
I am currently a traffic anchor at 19 Action News in Cleveland, Ohio. I bring up to the minute traffic reports every morning and afternoon.
I have been fascinated with stories for as long as I can remember, and with experience in television, radio, and print journalism, I am ready to tackle whatever comes my way as I look forward to the challenges that my own story may unfold.
